In this video

Practice Routine & Songs for Level 8. This lesson is from the Andy Guitar Beginner Acoustic Guitar Course.

There a lots of suggestions here to cater for a wide range of people, plus beginner classics that everyone should learn.

Short on time? Maintain your current skills first, then just add one song from this level. If you do that for every level, you’ll have 9 songs that you can play along to the original recording, which would be a huge achievement.

Key practice (5 mins each)

  • A minor pentatonic scale

  • Inside out Fingerstyle pattern

Key of A minor

  • House of the Rising Sun

  • Let Her Go - melody and strumming

Key of G, with some fingerstyle

  • White Stripes - We Are Gonna Be Friends

  • John Denver - Country Roads

  • Landslide - Fleetwood Mac (verses learnable, chorus and full thing is ADVANCED)

Easy blues in A

  • Mustang Sally

  • Tulsa Time

  • Johnny B Goode with capo at 1st fret

Beware of perfection when playing classic songs! If you stick with guitar, you’ll be playing and trying to perfect these for years to come, so take it easy. Let your skills develop over time, but these should be learnable from now!

Beginner classics

  • Wonderwall

  • Wish You Were Here
