Practice Routine & Songs for Level 2

Course: Three Chord Songs & Strumming Patterns

In this video

Full Practice Routine & Songs for Beginner Level 2. This lesson is from the Andy Guitar Beginner Guitar Course.

Here are my recommendations for a Practice Routine and songs for Level 2! The 15 minutes per sitting as practice time is still going to work really well but if you can manage more than that try do 2 two different sittings in a day but not more. 15 minutes to 30 minutes is a great amount of time but anymore and your fingers may hurt, especially if you're focussed on chords; individual string playing, riffs and little melody lines will be more manageable for your fingers!

5 mins on chord practice is ideal

  • D, A and E major shapes

    but also the chord changes...

  • D major to A

  • D major to E

5 mins on rhythm practice! The Jam Tracks from this level is plenty to fill the 5 minutes

  • The first Jam Track may be the trickiest, with both strumming patterns to try

  • Try the Jam Tracks 1 or 2 times every day you practice but don't try over 3 full times as you want to leave time for song practice!

5 mins on song practice. We want to start developing a song repertoire now by keeping 1 song from each previous level in the bank:

  • Keep one, move on!

  • Play along to original tracks: Walk on the wild side, Born in the USA

  • Sweet Caroline - this one is a challenge so if you feel confident then go for it!

Top songs to try

  • Chasing Cars

  • Born in the USA

  • Wild Thing

More Songs here:

  • Bitter Sweet Symphony

  • Sweet Caroline

  • I’ve got a feelin’

  • Learn on me

  • Three little birds

  • Common People

Course Completed!

Well done! Let's jump into the next course in this pathway.
