Recording Electric Guitar to a Backing Track

Course: Home Recording With Garageband

In this video

We record guitar over a backing track using GarageBand. why not try it yourself with a backing track from one of my lessons?

In this lesson we're looking at recording over a Backing Track. Andy has a backing track prepared to drop into this session, and we can use a track like this as a base for our recording.

You can download this backing track and learn the riff in my Rock Rhythm course here. Just right click on the audio player and click 'Save Audio As'.

Key points

  • If you know the tempo of the backing track, you can set the tempo in GarageBand to make editing easier

  • Once the tempo is set properly, you can loop a riff easily

  • Make sure you don't turn everything up too far or you will start to get clipping

Next Up: Recording Acoustic Guitar

Well done! Let's jump into the next lesson of the course.
