Shape 4 of the Minor Pentatonic scale. This one is very similar to Shape 1, but 2 of the notes (on strings 5 and 2) are moved up by 1 fret.

In this lesson we're looking at Shape 4 of the Minor Pentatonic scale. This one is very similar to Shape 1, but 2 of the notes (on strings 5 and 2) are moved up by 1 fret.

Key points

  • Start on the root note from Shape 1, then move up 4 positions to begin Shape 4
  • Make sure you don't confuse this with Shape 1!

A Minor Pentatonic - Shape 4

As with the other shapes, we start on the 5th fret and move up string 6 to Shape 4. The notes leading in are marked in blue, and the notes of Shape 4 are marked in yellow.
