Introducing Open Mic Sundays!

Open Mic Sundays was suggested as an opportunity for Andy Guitar AAA members to share audio and video clips of their progress and achievements, regardless of their ability or playing standard.

I thought this was a fantastic idea, and an opportunity for me to do covers of wonderful songs that I wouldn't normally have reason to learn or perform.

To encourage people to get involved in the Discord community, all performance videos will just be shared there. We had a low key start last week where I shared a video recorded just on my phone. This week, I thought I'd use my youtube setup alongside my phone and show both performances to compare the difference setup can make to how the same performance comes across.

We all know it can be scary to share, especially when just starting out. But as Gareth says, the AAA member Discord is a safe place with like minded learner guitar players and is intended as a peer to peer support network.

I want to encourage anyone who has experience and is confident at playing full songs on camera to share videos and inspire other members of this community - this will mean a lot more if you guys post too! If you're totally new to playing full songs and are not ready yet, that's more than fine - just sit back and get inspired by watching videos posted by other members.

I'll be posting a new cover every Sunday in September, just to get the ball rolling. Then we'll settle to one Sunday a month from October to give everyone time to learn and practice.
