Welcome to the guitar lesson for song 3 of the Andy Guitar Band Program - Learn To Fly by Foo Fighters!
I cover how to play an 'easy' version with open chords and capo 2nd fret, and also how to play the whole song without a capo - just like the Foo Fighters!
Only have an acoustic? Jam along - this song works great on acoustic!
Song breakdown
Opening Lead Guitar Riff
This uses an octave technique, which is super common in many 90s and 00s alternative rock songs. Get more help with this technique in this free video if you need itlink (free video)
Capo 2nd fret chords (beginner option)
Choose either a 'capo' or 'no capo' version to learn this song!
These are the chords that I played with the live band. This is the easier option for beginners
Intro & verse chords (capo 2nd - beginner)
Chorus & middle 8 chords (capo 2nd - beginner)
No capo chords (intermediate as the record)
These are the chords as Foo Fighters play them. They are still not too difficult, but beginners may struggle to the the barre chords ringing out.
Remember, to play in a live band you don't just practice till you can get it right, you need to practice till you never get it wrong! Therefore it is an essential part of this course that you revisit these pages and play along to the live covers like you're a in a real band and you're rehearsing your live set! Here's the live cover alone so you can jam along to the live band without having to search through the tutorial video - enjoy jamming along!
