Here's how to play Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day on electric guitar!

In the electric tutorial below, I go between a clean setting and an overdrive setting (using my channel changing amplifier) and then use an overdrive pedal (Ibanez ts808 tube screamer) for the solo!

Song breakdown

Section A - Intro and verse riff

Most of this song is comprised of a riff based around the G major chord with a descending root note on the D string. There is then a C major chord, C minor and G chord in every verse.

Section B - "Here comes the rain again"

The chords are Em - Bm - C - G (G/ F sharp) - Em - Bm - C - D
