Learn to play a musical scale on 1 string, the low E string. This lesson is from the Andy Guitar Beginner Guitar Course.

In this lesson we're learning to play a musical scale on 1 string, the low E string. The E Minor Pentatonic Scale is a very common scale used in many great songs and riffs, so you will likely recognise the sound and I recommend learning it as your first scale!

You will hear the word Pentatonic come up a lot when learning the guitar;

It simply means Pent = 5 and Tonic = note. So, a 5 Note Scale.

E Pentatonic Scale

Learn this scale by understanding the fret numbers or where the notes are with the dots on the guitar. The next level on top of this is to also learn how the notes feel by the distance and relationship between the G and A and then A to be B and so on.
