Beginner Acoustic Jam Track 7 - G, Cadd9 and Easy Pentatonic

Course: Most Common Chord Progressions & Strumming Patterns

In this video

Beginner Acoustic Jam Tracks focussing on the G and Cadd9 chords plus Easy Pentatonic Scales. This lesson is from the Andy Guitar Beginner Guitar Course.

Welcome to this Jam Track lesson which is a 2 in 1.

  • The first track uses the common strumming pattern D DU UD to play the G and Cadd9

  • The second track is playing the G pentatonic in scale order but to a rhythm

For both these tracks, have in your mind how the chords and scale notes might relate to each other and fit together, through how they sound along to the Jam Tracks, where they are on the fretboard and how in future we can combine chords and notes to make our playing really exciting!

Visual Jam Track 1 - join in!

Nice and easy with this track:

  • Just two bars of each chord and then change

  • Focus on the chord changes along with the D DU UD pattern (change chord around beat 4)

  • Bonus points if you can mute the low E string with your thumb on the Cadd9 chord

Visual Jam Track 2 - join in!

Scale and Melody Differences

For this melody we play the same notes in the same order as we learnt in lesson 3 but purposefully pause at the E note (second to last note). This creates a specific rhythm by leaving the space in the music thus creating a melody

Next Up: Chord Consolidation & Cadences

Well done! Let's jump into the next lesson of the course.
