Acoustic Looper Jam 9 in G# - The ADVANTAGE of barre chords

Course: Acoustic Looper Bootcamp

In this video

We use great sounding barre chords and major pentatonic soloing with string bending in our looper jam. Learn how barre chords can be advantageous when muting strings for rhythmic strumming.

In this jam, we focus on great sounding barre chords and major pentatonic soloing with string bending.

I've called this lesson The Advantage Of Barre Chords because barre chords enable us to do the muting required for the rhythm part far easier than if we were using open chords. When we mute, we can also relax the barre chord hand, so it's not squeezing the fretboard the whole time, which again makes it easier on the fretting hand!

Theory points

The chords in the key of G# are; G# maj, A# min, C min, C# maj, D# maj and and Fm.

Beginners can place a capo at the first fret to put this into the more guitar friendly key of G. However, playing barre chords for every chord has an advantage when adding muting and percussive elements in the strumming, which we look at in this jam.
