Knowing how to play an E7add11slash-whatever chord is all well and good, but it’s adding embellishments and tricks such as hammer ons and strumming accents that make a guitarist sound like a real player.

It’s also a fact that no matter how many chords you learn, hundreds of popular songs use G, C and D. The following examples demonstrate how higher level standard chords can sound- just by lifting a finger!
