Rock Lead 05 - Vibrato Technique

Course: Electric Lead Guitar

In this video

We focuses on 'Vibrato' which is a phrasing technique where we essentially vibrate the string, it gives a more lyrical quality to your lead guitar playing. Part of Andy’s Rock Lead Guitar Couse.

Vibrato is a phrasing technique where we essentially vibrate the string, which is how I used to remember the name! Phrasing gives a more lyrical quality to lead guitar playing. String bends, vibrato and hammer ons etc. all come under the umbrella term ‘phrasing’.

Another example is, imagine two guitarists play the same solo, but one guitarist sounds better than the other. One reason for this could be that one guitarists phrasing was better than the other. For example, his bends were more in tune, it sounded more lyrical (e.g. a good singer compared to a bad singer) this again all comes under the term ‘phrasing’.
