Introduced at this level were:

  • The 3 most common minor chords - Em, Am, Dm

  • D D D DUD D D DU - 16th Strumming

  • 5 Open chords that leave the 3rd and little finger down for each

  • G major melody in the lower octave, higher octave and on 1 string

Scales and riff playing 5 mins

  • G major scale lower octave

  • G major scale on 1 string (string 3)

  • G major pentatonic over the 2 octaves

Chords and key of G 5 mins

  • Essential open chords in the Key of G major; G, Am, C, D, Em

  • Oasis-style chords; G, Cadd9, Dsus4, Em7, A7sus4

Strumming 5 mins

  • D D D DUD D D DU and accents on beats 2 and 4

  • Keep working on your off-beat strumming if you feel it needs work, especially if the 16ths strumming is a stumbling block at the moment

Song practice 15-30 mins
