CAGED system E shape

Course: Complete Guide To The CAGED System

In this video

Playing the C chord using the E shape

In this lesson we're playing the C chord with the E shape. As before we're not playing a full 6-string shape you may be more familiar with.

Instead we fret notes on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings and use the thumb to fret the 8th fret on the 6th string, as is super common with the players we're emulating here; Hendrix, Mayer and Frusciante.

Lesson aims

  1. Learn to play the C chord with the E shape
  2. Pay attention to using your thumb to fret the 6th string
  3. Try using this shape in other keys
