In this video

In this video we're going to look at recording Acoustic Guitar and Vocals at the same time. We need to set up the channels just like we did in previous videos, and then set up our mics so we can capture our voice and our guitar together.

Many people struggle with how to play and sing at the same time. See below my video with some advice and exercises to help with this!

Key points

  • Give yourself some room - the mics should be close to your mouth and your guitar, but if they're too close then you might hit them which will make a noise
  • If you can, it can be best to record while stood up in order to get the best from your voice
  • Record with headphones so you can hear yourself while you play and sing
  • Use a click to make sure you keep in time - this will also help if you decide to add VSTIs or other instruments later
