Jam Track 7: "Inside Out" In C Fingerstyle

Course: Improvising Lead and Rhythm with Fingerstyle, Major Scale and Pentatonics

In this video

We're going to test our Inside Out fingerstyle skills in the Key of C major. Learning these fingerstyle patterns means we can tackle great real songs that we love, as is the style of this Jam Track, songs like Landslide by Fleetwood Mac and Dust In The Wind by Kansas.

Once we have the pattern learnt and our picking hand can do it, we have the option with fingerstyle to add melodies to the chords we play - all at the same time! This is how melodic fingerstyle can be.

Alternatively, I really recommend trying the two ideas separately for now meaning to play the melody over the top just as a solo. This is great practice in general no matter the level you're at, as breaking the parts into manageable chunks will allow the whole piece of music to come together nicely when the time is right.
