In this video we cover everything you need to know about the ukulele itself.
This is particularly important because there are four main different type of Ukulele. This course is only appropriate for three of them - so read on carefully to avoid disappointment!
Ukulele types
There are four types of Ukulele; Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone. Each is a different size in that order from smallest to biggest. They all have the same tuning notes, except for Baritone. Larger Ukuleles have more frets and produce a deeper sound, and the baritone has a different tuning because of this bigger size.
Soprano - 21 inch approx.
Concert - 23 inch approx - Andy's recommendation
Tenor - 26 inch approx.
Baritone - 30 inch approx - NOT appropriate for this course because of different tuning
Please note; Andy's 10 day course is appropriate for all these different sizes EXCEPT for baritone, which has a different tuning and therefore has different finger placements for the chords and notes.
Tuning
All info on tuning a Ukulele is in the next lesson of this course.
Anatomy
The Ukulele has a very similar anatomy to guitar aside from their smaller size and only having four strings.
What kind of Ukulele is this course for?
This course is appropriate for ALL ukuleles EXCEPT Baritone ukuleles, which have a different tuning.
Soprano, Concert and Tenor size ukuleles are all fine :)
Which Ukulele should I buy?
There are many great budget Ukuleles available these days, but it can be confusing to know which to buy.
With that in mind, I am proud to release my own signature ukulele in partnership with Brunswick! This is a quality instrument appropriate for beginner to intermediate level players and is priced as low as we can possibly make it for an instrument of this quality.
I'm proud to announce Andy's first ever signature Ukulele - the Andy Guitar Concert Ukulele AGCU200.

From the start, this was conceived to look similar to my signature acoustic guitar and made to a top notch spec. See and hear it in action in my recent Ukulele videos and in my new Ukulele beginners course videos
