Let's check out the full G major scale and the first full scale we've looked at so far. In this lesson we will learn how the G pentatonic scale relates to the major scale by looking at the notes we add to or take away from the scale.

Difference Between G Pentatonic and G major

Aside from learning all the notes in scale order, we can start to grasp the importance of the major scale and what it enables us to do. With it being a crucial element of music we will constantly refer back to it in many ways even as we progress later to Intermediate or Advanced players. At this stage it teaches us:

  • Core knowledge to weave many concepts together we've looked at so far

  • Understand the fretboard better which helps us to move around the neck

  • Ultimately to learn classic riffs and solos with ease!
