Learn a lead line to go over the jam track. The A minor pentatonic is perfect for the set of chords in this track.

Learn a lead line to go over the A minor jam track from yesterday’s lesson.

The A minor pentatonic is perfect for this set of chords in the track and essentially the pentatonic has five notes which we can target for melodies & riffs which land almost central on the guitar fretboard from fret 5 to 8.

Target notes in A minor pentatonic

We can play the scale in full from string 6 to 1 but actually we tend to sit in the middle of the scale for melodies & riffs, like in today’s lesson.

Jumping between 1st & 3rd finger right in the middle of the pentatonic scale is a very useful & common technique.

  • Fret 7 on string 4 is an A note & an important target note

  • Fret 5 to Fret 7 is the jump between 1st & 3rd finger

  • Same frets again just a string below

These will stand you in good stead for this lesson!
