In this course Andy and Mike take a deep dive into the playing style and techniques of some of the greatest guitarists of all time and look at what we can learn from these players.

We particularly focus on how the following key learning points;

  • Playing rhythm and lead at the same time - aka Rhythmic Lead Playing

  • Signature licks, songs and techniques

  • Fretboard shapes and theory behind the licks

  • How to apply these concepts to your own playing

How to make the most of this course

This course is filmed in the style of a masterclass, similar to the advanced workshops at Andy and Mike's live teaching events. It provides an overview of what goes into advanced lead and rhythm playing. Concepts and exercises are covered alongside TAB and neck diagrams. Song examples are also given throughout to show practical real world examples of the topics being discussed.

If you need more help with any of the topics covered in this course (such as triads, scale shapes or techniques) you will find all the help you need in Andy's Intermediate Course and Lead Guitar courses, which can be referred to at any time if you need further help.

What should you know before taking on this course?

The ideal student would be able to demonstrate the following;

  1. E and A shape barre chords

  2. 16th rhythms

  3. Major scale, minor pentatonic and the major pentatonic scales

  4. Some knowledge of intervals and chords in a key aka basic diatonic theory

  5. Some experience with playing lead guitar - the more the better!
