Advanced Open Chords

Course: Improver to Intermediate

In this video

We look at some advanced open chords, we’ll use a C shape to play G, C and D chords but higher up the guitar neck. Backing track included. Part of Andy’s Improver Guitar Course.

In this lesson, we’re going to learn how to play at G chord, a C chord and a D chord. Sounds a bit basic?

What if I said we were going to use a C shape played higher up the neck to play each of these chords? Now you’re interested!

Any open chord can be played higher up the neck. However, like with ‘Pseudo barre chords’, this technique doesn’t work anywhere on the neck or with any chord. Certain chords work high- er up the fretboard in certain keys. The chords on these pages all work in the key of G major.

Well done! Let's jump into the next lesson of the course.
