Acoustic Pop Genre Study

Course: Genre Studies

In this video

In this genre studies part of the intermediate course, we look at ‘acoustic pop’. This should help to choose which genres you wish to specialise in after doing this course.

The aim of this section is to provide a guide of the key guitar playing elements in seven key genres.

This should help to choose which genres you wish to specialise in after doing this course.

This lesson will talk about the key aspects of playing general acoustic songs, along with doing acoustic versions of chart songs.

Many of you will have learned plenty of a strumming songs by now. The key points to move your playing forward in this genre include;

  • More single note playing

  • Muting, accents and the shifting of the grove

  • Adding hammer ons and flicks offs

  • Giving a general idea of how the vocal would go, and singing while you play

*N.B. In the video I mention an 'ebook for this course'. There is no ebook or paperback book yet for this course, we decided to embed the written content and TAB on these pages instead.
