Minor Pentatonic Extensions

Course: Lead Guitar Scales

In this video

In this video we introduce the concept of scale extensions. This is a simple way to begin moving positions and move between scale shapes. This is by far the most common way to move between pentatonic positions and really opens up shape 1 in a way commonly displayed in many songs, riffs and solos.

Lesson aims

  1. Introduce moving beyond shape 1 of the minor pentatonic scale
  2. Introduce slide technique and scale extensions concept
  3. Encourage using fingers 1 and 3 only in pentatonic basic playing
