In this lesson we're looking at the lead guitar playing style of The Beatles. These guys produced so much music in a relatively short space of time, so in this Player Study we'll look at some of the key points of their playing style across their career.
Lesson aims
- Learn to improvise over the Let It Be style chord progression
- Try the Paperback Writer-style riff
- Experiment with Pedal Notes
Example 1a - Riff and progression in the style of The Beatles
This riff and progression shows the blues influence on many Beatles songs and riffs. We're using a 12 bar blues as our outline, but replacing the common blues riff with a pentatonic based riff using hammer ons.
Example 1b - George Harrison Style Lead
C major pentatonic scale
Use the C major pentatonic scale to improvise over the Let It Be style chord progression.
